Its been a bit of a slog since we all decided to perform the 1759 ritual for a lodge down in Southend. The drive itself in the minibus will be approx 6 hours, which means an early 6:30 am start from Burnley Masonic Hall. Hopefully the traffic should be quiet at that time.
We have an advance party arriving on Thursday evening in the shape of Bob & Jackie Summers, they have volunteered to take the lodge furnishings down with them and set up the 1759 lodge room early Friday PM at the venue. This will give us a chance to arrive at the Premier Inn, freshen up and settle down for the performance.
A few changes to the performance have been made since its last outing with the inclusion of a period songs and a charge, which is read out from a scroll. It adds a little more to the authenticity of the performance. Plus we also present the candidate, which is usually a member of the lodge in which we are performing, with a certificate of membership. Its a great memento and everyone wants a closer look at them.
The last few practices take place at Colne Masonic Hall over the coming few Tuesdays, with a full dress rehearsal on Monday 30th June.
Fingers crossed all goes well.
